If you’re anything like Ben when he first moved to North Carolina, this question is likely top of mind. You can definitely get through this weekend just fine without a car given the wide availability of Uber/Lyft and the rather short distances between each of the weekend’s events. That said, for ease of bopping around Hillsborough on Saturday (see the “things to do” section on our website), it may be nice to set up a carpool group for the weekend (car rentals are readily available at RDU airport). 

We encourage carpooling and/or ridesharing to and from the wedding. We have also arranged for a 30-person shuttle to run at the end of the night from the venue back to the Colonial Inn (right across the street from Yonder, where all are invited to gather post-wedding — see below!), followed by a second run from the venue to the Colonial Inn, the Hilton Durham, and the Holiday Inn Express Durham.

We really just want y’all to be comfortable and have fun, particularly keeping in mind the Carolina summer heat. If you’d like some inspiration for the Friday night welcome event, perhaps think summer dresses, jumpsuits, pants and button-downs without a tie, but maybe a light blazer if you’re feeling it. For the wedding itself, think dresses and breathable suit/tie combos — fun colors and patterns encouraged (we personally love a floral, but go wherever your heart takes you)!

The ceremony will start promptly at 4, and we strongly encourage arriving between 3:30 and 3:45 so you can explore the gorgeous property, grab a nice cold water, and find your seats in a leisurely manner.

As much as we’d love to celebrate with all of the kiddos in our lives, we’ve made the decision to include only adults in our celebration (with the exception of our 2.5-year-old ring bearer, who is on payroll). If you’ll be traveling with young children and would like recommendations for local childcare, please let us know!

Why yes! Following the reception, meet us at Yonder, downtown Hillsborough’s premier combination bar / art space / music venue (which also happens to be right across the street from the Colonial Inn). Enjoy a nightcap and slice of pizza as you watch us turn into pumpkins at the stroke of midnight!
